Abstract

This study attempted to assess the health care waste management practices among the health care facilities in Tuguegarao City. Every health care facility, no matter what size, is intended to be a place of healing. This is the fundamental purpose of a health care system. The ability of an institution to provide a good standard of health care is undetermined if there is a poor standard of hygiene and a high risk of avoidable infection to patients and medical workers. Achieving a good standard of cleanliness in health care institutions is an important component in controlling infection.

As the researchers went through series of interviews, they found out that information regarding medical waste management in this region is still currently insufficient. This is the reason why researchers propose this study to assess the current practices in health care waste management among health care facilities in Tuguegarao City and the results shall improve the health care management plan of all hospitals, clinical laboratories, RHU and barangay health centers, clinics, and pharmacies.
